This moment is not life waiting to happen, goals waiting to be achieved, words waiting to be spoken, connections waiting to be made, regrets waiting to evaporate, aliveness waiting to be felt, enlightenment waiting to be gained. No. Nothing is waiting. This is it. This moment is life.” ― Jeff Foster

It's right here. Everything you need to wake up, to "become" whole, it's HERE. We just forget to look up in wonder. If we look up at all, it's rarely in awe. We look up and try to connect what we see and feel to our memories of other sights and feelings "like this." So it takes you looking at a tree or a person or a piece of whatever on the ground and fully stopping to see. I think we look but rarely see. The mind stuff clouds our vision of the present moment. Even as another speaks to us, our mind continues to chatter away, planning responses, liking/not liking what we hear. One of my dear friends and a fellow teacher often starts her classes by saying "just stop." It's powerful. It's a reminder to pull back the reins on that rearing stallion of a mind, going 100 miles an hour forward and backwards simultaneously, with little sign of stopping.

But life happens now. Right now. Manifest your thoughts into reality Now, or let then float away. Stop with the "maybe tomorrow." Now is your chance to begin again. Say the thing, do the thing, just get going already! Tomorrow isn't guaranteed, but I think we have right now.

So as usual, I invite you to put down your phone and sit quietly with yourself. How long? Well, how much time do you have? 2 minutes if that's what you have. Otherwise be still for longer. The mind immediately starts making excuses why you shouldn't sit and be quiet--heck I intended to sit on my cushion two hours ago, but here I am writing this. But that's your homework, and it's not just for you and your well being; it's for your family and friends, and the old couple driving ahead of you going 7 mph on the highway. It takes patience--and it teaches patience. So here's the technique: Stop moving. Sit down. Close eyes. Breathe deeply. Repeat. Begin again. Let's awaken to our fullest in the Now! I love you human.
