There are moments in life where it's important for us to stand tall and steady like a tree.
.
We will of course waiver, hesitate, sometimes even retreat from a moment of challenge, but this is your reminder to dig your feet deep into the "soil."
.
So what is this "soil?" It's the meat of a life intentionally lived. It's living for the well-being of others.
.
One of the hardest things us humans (at least in our modern Amercian culture) need to do is get out of our own way/head/ego. And this is hard to do! It's "my" life, my stuff, my career, my time, my success/failure, my growth....When we can step back from all the ME/MY/I stuff we are able to encounter empathy--unselfish service.
.
So I ask you to remember that there are many folks in pain in your life. Some present as "fine," but may feel like a sinking ship beneath the surface smile. Stand steadily close to this one. Be a force and heart that they can trust that will call/text/step in when they need to hear your voice.
.
I believe that one of our unwritten jobs as humans here on Earth is to look out for others--and the more "different," the better. We only get a little time here. My hope is that instead of measuring my life in acquisition, accomplishments or goals, instead to call success a life of giving away, and Being there for those that need us most. How much are you willing to surrender in service of the freedom of another?
.
Today, call that person who is going through "IT," and just be there. Be an ear, be a hand, be a voice, be a warm embrace. I've watch myself in the past retract from friends and family in difficult moments. I didnt know what to do to help...I was scared. But now I know to dive in. They want your love. Do the thing, or get them the thing that they could use but won't ask for. Today, be the absolute best version of yourself. Just today, step outside of yourself to deeply serve another in need. Try it. Love you.
